Let Truth Guide You - Personal Branding Blog - Stand Out In Your Career

Let Truth Guide You - Personal Branding Blog - Stand Out In Your Career Whether you are buying, selling, or interviewing for a job, truth and consistency are important models to adhere to as you communicate with the other party. Otherwise unnecessary conflict will eventually arise. Digging deeper and deeper Those who choose not to be truthful and consistent, when put in the hot seat over a conflict, will dig themselves into a deeper abyss. At this point it’s very likely further communication will cease to exist or at best, that person will not be trusted in the future. Unfortunately, most of us have faced communication challenges with others in our lifetime. As an entrepreneur or a job seeker, the consistency of whatever it is you communicate becomes your brand and marketing campaign. Over time, your reputation for standing by your principles will grow and people will come to rely on you. Integrity and referrals are linked A high level of integrity will develop a larger clientele including a longer list of referrals and testimonials. Likewise, more people will place you as the lead candidate for a job. In turn, this significantly increases your negotiating power. Let’s take the example of Joanne. On occasion she changes details of what transpired to seemingly advance her cause. But instead this always works against her. She becomes trapped by the ever growing disconnect in her messaging. Recently, her final blow in an argument was when she admitted her inconsistency. Compounding her disconnect, instead of apologizing, Joanne accused Susan of upsetting her and of being thoughtless. My questions for you are: 1. Should Susan beat herself up because she upset Joanne? 2. Should Susan maintain pride for sticking to the truth? 3. Will Susan be best off moving on to find friends who better appreciate her? You may be thinking, “this is non-sense”, however many of us do succumb to unrealistic demands and beat ourselves up. The above referred to two friends. It gets stickier when you consider the same scenario but relatives are involved. Now, how will you answer the same questions? I discussed this dilemma with a very good friend. We both agreed, as long as you remain true to who you are, and play by a fair set of rules, you need to remain true to yourself and let the truth be your guide. In all cases whether its family, or you are buying or selling, or interviewing â€" you must know in advance your own rules for proceeding and strictly adhere to them. If you compromise your values to be the good guy â€" you compromise yourself but not the negotiation. In this unique case, when you choose to compromise, the negotiation becomes a strict win for the other party. What is right? Before you set out on entrepreneurial endeavors or sell to your prospect or relative, take a deep look inside to know whats right, wrong and fair. Keep that list with you at all times. When you let truth guide you, you will remain centered and in the preferred position. Seek company of others who hold the same rules for business and meaningful relationships. This common sense guide is meant to help you find and enjoy the Smooth Sale! Author: Elinor Stutz is the CEO of Smooth Sale, LLC a motivational speaker and the author of the International Best-Selling book, “Nice Girls DO Get the Sale: Relationship Building That Gets Results” published by Sourcebooks. 5 Essential Tips to Get a Graduate Job

5 Essential Tips to Get a Graduate Job CV writing â€" the craft to creating a winning Personal Profile You have been waiting a long time for this time to come, and finally: you graduated! After the three days euphoria regarding your graduation and possible post-graduation vacation, you realize that, yet again, its time to grow up! Finding a job during this economic  downturn is especially hard, that is why you need to take it seriously and consider your job search as a job per se. I graduated from Copenhagen Business School last November and not speaking Danish, I soon realized that if I did not want to go back to Italy and work almost for free as an intern (again) I had to scout the market and work hard to find a job. I have to admit, I was pretty lucky compared to many stories I keep hearing, and after two months (though I was sending out 6 to 10 applications per week) I have found a very good job in Digital Marketing at Miinto UK. Here are some of the tips I gathered through my own experience of job hunting that I would like to share. I hope they help you succeed  too: Smartly “Abuse” Social Media Nowadays, it is very important to be out there. Companies are very proactive in finding new candidates, and if you are not on the Internet, they won ´t find you! There are many websites through which you can make yourself and your skills visible. Some of the biggest and most popular are:  LinkedIn, Monster and GraduateLand.  Do not forget to monitor your own university for opportunities they may offer! Take time to fill in your profile 100%;  many job portals make your profile more visible if it is complete. You can also set up automatic email job alerts regarding jobs that match your profile and interests. If you have drunk pictures of yourself on summer vacation on your Facebook, make sure you have a closed profile for those that are not your friends: companies DO check you out on social media! Job portals actually do work: I have been contacted by companies through some of the above websites so make sure to make use of them. Network Let everybody know that you are looking for a job: your friends, your professors, your parents and your parents friends. Be specific on WHAT KIND of jobs you are looking for. Come out of the shade: meet people, talk to them and be reachable; you never know who they know, how big their network is and how they might end up helping you. When working part-time at a restaurant while studying, I had the fortune of meeting business people on a date or with family, that would leave me their business cards and ask me to send them my resume. Be Proactive Statistics confirm that a great majority of job ads never really get published on companies’ sites. So its good to actively search for jobs within companies youre interested in and send unsolicited job applications to the right department. Even if the company is not searching for anybody within your area at this time, they will keep you in mind when something comes up.  I am still getting emails for unsolicited applications I have sent months ago!  Build a Rock Solid CV Your resume is your business card, so make sure its accurate, well written, and free from errors! My suggestion is not to include every single experience you have had, but just the relevant ones. Check your universitys Careers Service, they will most probably be happy to review and correct your CV. Every country requires a specific format and CV length. If you are applying for jobs in different countries, it can get quite annoying to always have to find the right resume format. If you are within Europe, the EU makes accessible the EU CV format, that you can directly download from the Europass website; it is available in all EU languages.  Ask for Recommendation Letters Dont be shy, ask your professors, your previous managers or co-workers to write a few lines of recommendation for you. Once you have one, or a few, send them along to relevant job applications together with your CV. I got my current job thanks to a recommendation letter written by one of my previous employers; my current boss was impressed and called my previous manager. Now you can also add recommendations on LinkedIn through the “Endorsement” tab. Remember: You need to be strategic in your job search. Decide what kind of tools you want to use, be consistent and monitor social media for new job openings. Narrow your research to specific geographical areas and types of job. Set a target: decide how many RELEVANT applications you want to send per week and STICK to it! Finally, try to keep a positive attitude, dont get discouraged and be patient; things do not happen from one day to the other. Still unemployed? On the Job by Anita Bruzzese Why You Need to Embrace Digital Operations

On the Job by Anita Bruzzese Why You Need to Embrace Digital Operations Its difficult to imagine getting through your day without using technology, whether its checking your email, downloading new music or tracking your fitness level. Just as you as an individual rely on technology every day to run your life, so are businesses going digital to run their operations and disrupt entire industries. An Accenturereportnotes digital is upending the way businesses have run in the past consumer products companies are becoming Internet companies, energy companies are becoming information companies and media companies are becoming logistics companies. Thats why its not a matter of if but when companies will embracedigital operations. As the report notes: If every business is a digital business, then the operations that enable and support the business whether theyre delivered internally or through an external provider must be digital as well. Still, its not going to be an easy transformation. There is a common misconception that technology alone can produce magical results. But the reality is the results depend on how people use it, writes McKinseysMarkus Hammer,Malte Hippe,Christoph Schmitz,Richard SellschopandKen Somersin anarticletitled: The Dirty Little Secret About Digitally Transforming Operations. McKinseyresearchfinds that only 26% of major organizational transformations succeed. Those who aresuccessfuluse advanced planning, rely on local solutions to capture value quickly while building long-term solutions and rely on a variety of skills such as production processes and change management, research shows. At the same time, more than 90% of large organizations with revenues over $1 billion now use outside providers for the operations of one or more of their business processes, finds HfS Research. This provides as additional challenge as the external sourcing of operations has in many cases continued on an analog path, and isnt keeping up with digital in other business areas, Accenture research shows. For many companies, the dilemma may be whether they are moving quickly enough toward digital operations. In the Accenture study, 49% of those surveyed say they are currently making only simple transfers of processes and people to a service provider with limited business transformation. But in about two years, 49% say they expect to be engaged with operations focused on transformation of the business and its processes. The payoff forcompanies that embrace digital operationsis lower costs, better compliance, more engaged workers, key business insights and better predictions of where the business needs to go, the report says. With that in mind, Accenture advises these are the keys to success forcreating a successful digital operations environment: Understanding that a digital platform will (read more here)

Does Your ZoomInfo Profile Send the Wrong Personal Brand Message - Executive Career Brandâ„¢

Does Your ZoomInfo Profile Send the Wrong Personal Brand Message Wait a minute, you may be saying, I never created a ZoomInfo profile! How did I get one? ZoomInfo aggregates information about some people and companies, and creates profiles for them. The good news. You have a page one (probably) Google search result for your name without lifting a finger. Page one search results are the first to be clicked on by people looking for information about you. The bad news. That high-ranking search result doesnt include an on-brand profile youve created to differentiate your unique promise of value and resonate with your target audience. And it may contain misinformation about you because, along with aggregating what theyve found online related to your name, ZoomInfo doesnt discriminate between which information matches you and which refers to someone who has the same name as you. If you find yourself in this predicament, you really need to sign up, clean up, and brand up your existing profile. Once youre logged into your account, click on Public Profile and fill out each section  â€" contact info, employment, memberships/affiliations, education, certifications, and lastly, biography. For your contact info, be sure to include a link to your blog or website. If you dont have one, link to your Google profile, profile, VisualCV or other extended online profile. Change up your career bio somewhat here, as you should for each online profile. Avoid completely duplicating content and add a few different bits of information about you. Click on Consolidate Profiles (in the left sidebar box below the My Profile box) to search ZoomInfo for other profiles referencing you and consolidate them into a single profile. Once you claim your ZoomInfo name and consolidate other existing profiles into one, they wont create additional profiles in your name. More good news. When recruiters and  hiring decision makers are filling jobs, they turn to ZoomInfo to source and assess candidates. With an on-brand, keyword-rich profile representing you, youre much more likely to capture their attention.   Related posts: Does Your Online Identity Scream “Hire Me”? Resume Writing Service Hoboken, NJIf you're looking for a resume writing service, you will find a number of agencies that claim to be the best. While there are a number of good services out there, not all of them are created equal. You will want to make sure you choose the right service.First, you should visit the career agency in person. You will want to sit down with a representative and have a look at their samples. You will want to see how they present themselves. You will also want to see how they conduct themselves at the meeting. The next thing you should do is spend some time doing research on the work history of the agency. It should be a well-known, established business. They should be able to supply you with contact information for their previous clients. You should also check their website. You want to find out what you will need to provide to them. You will also want to find out how much it will cost. You should feel comfortable leaving your resume or CV on the desk at the resume writing service. While this may be something you want to consider, you will also want to feel secure that the person behind the desk will be courteous and considerate. When you begin contacting such service, you will want to find out how many samples they have completed. You will also want to find out if there are any qualifications you need to have before they can offer you the job. This will ensure that you don't end up wasting your time and your money on a company that won't be able to help you get a job.You will also want to consider what services they have provided to others.
